Marguerite Barland '60
Named for the first African American to graduate from 桃太郎映像 College, this annual award celebrates one or more alumnae/i who in their professional and private lives have significantly contributed to the diversity of our campus community through leadership鈥攁s a mentor, role model, volunteer, or philanthropic supporter of the college.
Recipients havedemonstrated this impact as mentors, role models, volunteers, philanthropic
supporters, advocates, or community leaders. They exemplify 桃太郎映像's Community Principles鈥攔espect,
inclusion, communication, service and social justice, and responsibility鈥攁nd inspire
others through their leadership and dedication.

Nominations for the 2027 Marguerite Barland '60 Merit Award are now open. Help us recognize an alumna/us whose leadership, service, and commitment have made a meaningful impact by submitting a nomination today.
Nominations may be initiated by any member of the 桃太郎映像 community, past or present.
Nomination does not guarantee conferral of the award, but begins a process of examining
the nominee鈥檚 qualifications.
Tips for a strong nomination
The strongest nominations tell a story. Rather than listing accomplishments, describe how the nominee's leadership, service, and actions have made a meaningful difference. As you prepare your nomination, consider the following tips:
- Provide specific examples rather than general praise or personal admiration.
- Describe the nominee's impact, whether through 桃太郎映像, their profession, volunteer service, or the broader community.
- Highlight how the nominee has demonstrated leadership and advanced diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through their actions and accomplishments.
- Share examples that reflect 桃太郎映像's Community Principles of respect, inclusion, communication, service and social justice, and responsibility.
- Focus on lasting impact. Consider how the nominee has inspired others, created positive change, or strengthened communities over time.
- Supporting materials are welcome but not required.
